Shorebird surveys and identification training in Indonesia
Phase 2: Sumatra

A guided coastal walk to show people migrant bird species such as Wheatears, Swallows, Sand Martins and Sandwich Terns as they arrive, as well as to give them a last chance to see some of Ireland\\\\\\\'s migrant wintering wildfowl, such as Brent Geese and Wigeon, before they leave for their breeding grounds. The walk will start at Kilcoole Train Station car park, next to the BirdWatch Ireland reserve, at 10:30am and will last for approx. 2 hours.

Birders and volunteers of the Migrating Kestrel Project across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe will be recording any sightings of Lesser Kestrels, Amur Falcons or Redfooted Falcons over the weekend. All sightings and activities will be reported to the co-ordinator of the Migrating Kestrel project, Anthony van Zyl. The results will be published on the kestreling.com web site.
Sightings will give us an idea of how many kestrels still remain in Southern Africa.

Activity with young birdwatchers and/or students

7.30: Morning Birdwalk at the Ponds in the University of Dar es Salaam.
9.00: Group Discussion on the identified birds
10.00-12.00: Presentation on Migratory Birds by a resource person (from WCST)
13.00-15.00: Demonstration on the use of Teachers guidebooks to the Birds of Dar es Salaam

We are going to invite the birders, local people and local media to join our agenda for a the birdwatching activities for the 9th of April in Lago de Capeira - Guayaquil area, were we will have a \\\"Birdathon with the members of Capeira Ecological Group\\\", as well as, invite them to participate in a conference-media event \\\"Migratory Birds, Birdwatching and their relation with Avian Influenza\\\" on April 11th at Ecotec so they will learn more about the importance of migratory birds in birdwatching-turistic activities for Ecuador as well as the damage that miss-information on Avian In

3.Sensitisation parade in the streets of Freetown
4.Media sensitisation pogramme (TV, UN Radio)
5.Bird watching excursion to Aberdeen and Congo Bay

NCF intends to host an educational programme with the theme “migratory birds need our attention now”. Our target audience would be students, we also intend to reach the public by news articles in Nigerian dailies. The educational would include a presentation on the theme. And afterward a guided bird watch in NCFs’ nature reserve

Saturday 8/04
6 Am: CBCS members in 4 teams leave for birdwatching; they have with them the check list of the migratory birds of Cameroon (218 species). During the excursion all birds that will be observed will be ticked on the check list.

We would like to celebrate the World Migratory Bird Day within the framework of our Wetland days. The following activities are planned:
1.We\\\'ll go to the countryside for Birdwatching.
2.Build some nests /recieved nests for small birds. Made by students.
3.Training,studying and advising on bird research for students.
4.Meeting for students and researchers.
