World Migratory Bird Day celebration - Iraq

We want to inform you that the Iraqi Organisation for Conservation of Nature (IOCN) in conjunction with Department of Environment of college of science of Qadisiya university will celebrates in the upcoming WMBD helding in Al-Dalmaj marsh southrn Iraq which is considered one of the most important route for bird annual migration, this festival will conclude some lectures led by expert to create awarness between the stackeholder and distribute boruchures and posters regarding to this important issue.

World Migratory Birds Day 2015

The event will to take place in the period from 14 - 16 May 2015 in ElHaj abdalla at Gezeira, an area sensitive to the migratory soaring birds; Gezeira embraces giant agricultural schemes, in addition to some important wetlands. These together with irrigation canals form an important habitat for migratory soaring birds. Grid of power lines criss-cross the Gezira scheme, supplying energy to the irrigated schemes as well as heavily populated residential areas. The power lines are relatively old.

Happy Bird Day

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s (M-NCPPC) parks naturalists and the Friends of Locust Grove invite park visitors, nature lovers and bird enthusiasts to celebrate spring and welcome migratory birds at “Happy Bird Day,” Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Locust Grove Nature Center in Cabin John Regional Park at 7777 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda, Maryland. Participants will enjoy live birds, guided bluebird walks, games, crafts, exhibits and more bird-related fun.

Raising National Profile for Migratory Birds in Kenya

Processions will be held at the first 5 sites, including public meetings with speeches, children singing, banners and posters of WMBD. The local Site Support Groups will organise these events. A special bird walk with a focus on migratory birds will take place on 5 April at Nairobi National Park (a minibus will be hired to bring people there). There will be extensive media coverage and articles in the press. A report with pictures will be produced and sent to the BirdLife Africa Secretariat

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day in Uganda

The following activities are being proposed for NatureUganda’s participation: 1. Press Release and Panel discussion; a panel discussion / press briefing will be organized by NatureUganda, where print and electronic media will be invited. The panel discussion / press briefing will be followed by a press release. The release will announce the launch of the World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) on the weekend of 8/9 April 2006, and also release some information about the Bird Flu (Avian Flu).

Birdwatching Activity in Important Bird Areas (IBAs) of Macedonia

Birdlife Macedonia is planning to celebrate that day visiting some IBAs in Macedonia with BSPSM members and students from biology (and ecology). Information on that day should also be distributed to the media.

Muuttajien matkassa - Wild Wings

The event is a part of Pääsiäissaari (Easter Island) educational project which is held at the Helsinki Zoo for the first time. The project comprises of Easter Island adventure route at the zoo and four events between 25th March and 17th April 2006. The themes are endangerad animals, the use of natural resources and the everyday choices we as individuals make. The web pages of the project offer schools educational material. On 8th-9th April there are a few birdwatching sites with guides who help the visitors to make observations.

Worl Migratory Bird Day celebrated in Paraguay

Guyra Paraguay has organized different activities to celebrate the WMBD. Particularly to reflect the importance of the migratory species for wetlands (freshwater marshlands)ecosystems in Paraguayand in the region. 1-Bird watching 2-Conferences and Environmental Education . 3-Activities with the local communities. 4-Distribution of information.

Journée mondiale des oiseaux migrateur

ENDA Maghreb has carried out two educationale trips to two differents wetland wich are RAMSAR IBA and Ramsar Sites with 16 particpants from different instutions (Colleages, Clubs, associations and public administration). Particpants was initieted to birdwatching and have visited Young association working on ecotourism in Merja Zerga Lagoon. Then they visited Sidi Bou Ghaba lac and National Centre for environmental education.
