Join the Earth Conservation Corps for an open house in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day. We'll have:

  • Discussion with ornithologist/ author Rob Bierregaard. 
  • Live drawing demonstration with iIllustrator Kate Garchinsky.
  • Encounter our raptor ambassadors.
  • Explore the Anacostia on a river expedition.

Carl Linhart WMBD Bike Ride at Seney Wildlife Refuge

This World Migratory Bird Day outing is dedicated to Carl Linhart as it was a favorite place of his. Plan for a full day at Seney Wildlife Refuge via bicycle. There is a wonderful trail system at Seney and this will be a great time of year to see birds. We'll do the inner 7-mile loop stopping along the way to view migrating birds in the man-made impoundments. This trip is 10 miles one way, making for a long but very interesting day.

Vancouver Avian Research Centre's Bird Monitoring and Banding Field Workshop

The Bird Monitoring and Banding Workshop is a 3 day action-packed introductory course consisting of presentations, specimen study, field mist-netting, banding, and processing under the direction of Derek Matthews, Master Bander, a North American Banding Council (NABC) certified trainer and Bander-in-charge at the Vancouver Avian Research Centre.

Bird Monitoring and Banding Classroom Workshops by the Vancouver Avian Research Centre

The Vancouver Avian Research Centre is hosting Bird Monitoring and Banding Workshops this spring! Get up close and personal with birds as you experience a professional bird monitoring and banding station in action! Participants will receive training in bird safety and welfare, bird identification, bird banding and taking biometric measurements, ageing and sexing techniques, mist net use and data collection.

Bird Song & Identification Workshop with Dorothy Diamond by The Nature Trust of New Brunswick

Interested in learning more about our feathered friends? The Nature Trust is looking for volunteers of all ages to help with bird monitoring on our nature preserves, and are providing a workshop lead by ornithologist Dorothy Diamond, to help our seasoned and new volunteers brush up on bird identification. Reserve a spot for free, and you are encouraged to bring a small donation (suggested $5.00) to the event to help support stewardship activities.

Meadowlark Nature Festival by the Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Alliance

Showcasing the best of the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys’ natural environments, Meadowlark Festival is the flagship public event presented by the Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Alliance (OSCA). This year the festival offers 78 tours including hiking, cycling, horseback riding, canoeing, geology tours, astronomy events, children`s programs, film screenings, art exhibitions, Aboriginal events, and photography, painting and writing workshops.

Year of the Bird Raptor Program and River Experience at the Monique Johnson Anacostia River Pump House

Please join us at the Monique Johnson Anacostia River Pump House Tuesday, June 12th at 9am to meet the Earth Conservation Corps raptor ambassadors and enjoy an educational river expedition on the Anacostia.

Migratory Bird Day at Sugarite Canyon State Park

This celebration of migratory birds includes a live hawk presentation, a demonstration of hummingbird banding, a bird walk for beginners, and an "Early Bird Special" with homemade cinnamon rolls to watch birds at the feeders!

World Migratory Bird Day at Brian Booth State Park

A day devoted to the wonders of our natural world, and its migrating avians. Park Ranger Glennis will be waiting at Beaver Creek State Natural Area welcome center ready to take adventurers on a birding hike. And OPRD host, will be offering painting seminars. Stop by for a day of fun.

Marking World Migratory Bird Day Celebration in Nyandarua County

The event will be marked in Nyandarua County which host 3 IBAs, Lake Olbolossat, Kinagop grasslands and Aberdare forest. The event will involve local community conservation groups, NGOs, local schools, companies, media and county government officials. Main activities will include, volleyball tornament, awareness creation talks and planting of tussock grass along the river Nairobi.
