It happens every year; and this time we’re having a celebration! Join Lake Conestee Nature Park for an International Migratory Bird Day on May 11th at 601 Fork Shoals Rd. We’ll have a fun series of activity stations for kids, Moms, Dads, and other adults that will teach you the basics of birding and lots of other “birdy” facts.
Stations will include basic birding skills, how to use binoculars, a migration activity, and stations on how plastic pollution affects birds at LCNP.
This two-part class combines a warbler identification workshop at Fisherville Brook with a field visit to Rome Point. Join Audubon Society of Rhode Island birding expert Laura Carberry for a presentation on how to identify spring warblers that visit Rhode Island then take those skills out into the field and view the birds wintering in our area. Please bring binoculars and dress for the weather.
Lots going on this weekend. We will be doing a bird walk on Duck Island at Warriors' Path State Park, Saturday, April 13th at 8:00 AM. There will be a short presentation at 7:30 in the rec building. Followed by the bird walk at 8 AM. We expect to see lots of species highlighted by a soaring Osprey, Yellow-throated Warbler, and a Yellow-throated Vireo. Come on out.
