Wings Over Weston

A day of bird hikes, demonstrations, booths, games, music, food, and live birds from Operation Wildlife. Tents and booths will be based at the overlook and shelter areas of the park.

Open to the general public 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free of charge.

With the purpose of raising awareness of the region as an Important Bird Area (IBA) - which is an area of importance to birds that breed here, or depend on the available food and shelter during migration.

Celebration of Worrld Migratory Bird Day 2010 with Dubai Municipality

A Forum/Seminar will be organized on 10 May 2010 at the Dubai Municipality Club.

In addition, school kids will participate in fun activities on various bird related themes.

A Photo exhibition on Migratory Birds in UAE will also take place in the Municipality main building from 11-13 May 2010. A detailed activity report is under preparation.

Birdwatching and Awareness Raising on Migratory Birds

In Koshi Tappu, Himalayan Nature will be carrying out birdwatching activities for local communities and talking about the importance of threatened migratory birds for a healthy ecosystem.

Another group will conduct bird surveys in the grasslands north of Koshi Tappu in search of Bengal Floricans, the critically endangered migratory bird species found in Nepal.

In Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve, similar programmes will be conducted with the help of nature guide association and the Reserve authority. Sukla Phanta is the largest stronghold of the Bengal Florican in Nepal.

Zum diesjährigen Weltzugvogeltag plant die Akademie für Natur- und Umweltschutz Baden-Württemberg in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Landratsamt Enzkreis und der Gemeinde Ötisheim eine Fachexkursion zum Thema "Schutz wandernder Tierarten". Geplant ist unter anderem ein Besuch zum Weißstorchgebiet im mittleren Oberrhein.

Es handelt sich hierbei um eine geschlossene Veranstaltung!

Flying over Egypt

This year Nature Conservation Egypt will expand its activiites and celebrate WMBD not only in Lake Qarun Protected Area and Port Said, but also in Sukhna (Red Sea) and Damietta and the north coast.

Bird lovers and school children will be joining us. We have planned various activities, such as bird monitoring and bird counting for those areas.

Celebrating World Migratory Bird Day on the web

The blog displays photos with descriptions of migratory birds captured in Malaysia by members of the Malaysian Nature Society Perak Branch.

The exhibition aims on raising awareness that there is need to conserve habitats or at the very least some vegetation to provide refuge and food to these birds that spend the winter months in our country.

Educational Activities on WMBD 2010

Invitations were sent out to forty environmental clubs in schools.

Bird experts will share information on the migration of birds as well as the importance of studying this phenomenon for the purposes of monitoring and conserving biodiversity.

The school clubs are encouraged to research on the migration of birds and present their findings in poems, songs, speeches or drama.

World Migratory Bird Day Celebrations

Local community groups or site support groups will be celebrating the day at different sites including South Nandi, Tana, Kinangop, Kereita, Kakamega, Mida creek, Dakatcha, Mt. Kenya, Yala, Dunga and Chereng'ani through various activities.
Some of these include birdwatching, video shows, clean-up exercises, talks and discussions, tree planting, raising awareness on bird identification, speeches from invited guests and entertainment.

Migratory Birds Promoting Cultural Diversity in Botswana

The celebration activities will include purchasing and printing promotional t-shirts with the World Migratory Bird Day 2010 theme.

Moreover, there will be a morning bird walk to Mogobane Dam under the leadership of experienced guides who will instruct the children on aspects regarding birds.

The day will end with a show expressing Botswana's diverse culture performed by school children. Various schools will participate and perform choral singing, dancing, dramas depicting conservation issues and cooking traditional dishes.

Journée mondiale des oiseaux migrateurs - World Migratory Bird Day

Taï National Park, located in the south west of Ivory Coast, will organise a WMBD conference in the city of Soubre aimed at raising awareness among school-children. Pictures and films of migratory birds will be shown followed by a discussion on the reasons for migration and the effects of climate change on birds' migration routes. The event will also include a field trip and birdwatching along the Sassandra river which runs through Soubre.
