Educational Activity

The State Nature Conservation Centre will celebrate WMBD with well illustrated lecture for younger schoolchildren. The aim of the event is to increase the understanding about bird migration as an unique phenomenon. Migration between important wetland areas along their flyways is a large part of their life cycle . We want to increase awareness and responsibility among children, who are taking decisions after 25-30 years. A well illustrated presentation will explain when, where and why our birds migrate and why it is necessary to protect them globally.

On the 9th of May a public centre will be opened which will enable visitors to observe bird habitats and native wetland bird species. A bird guide will be on stand by to take birders for bird watching.

We are planning to conduct bird watching activities in the lower hills of western ghats and distributing flyers in the regional language Tamil, to inform about the importance of migratory birds.

The awareness campaign will be carried out by showing the local people clippings and powerpoint presentations, highlighting the importance of wetland habitats. The nature lovers and school children will be taken to the nearby wetlands for practical observations. The study and observations on the potential threats will be carried out involving a local team.
Further more there is a Bird Race at two
locations of Rajasthan i.e. Bharatpur & Udaipur and slide shows.
The local media will cover the event.

Se realizaran poster mostrando la diversidad de especies migrantes qiue habitan nuestra region, ademas de artuculos en periodicos, radios y television.

Plumas Purpuras will organise a poster exhibition, presenting the diversity of native migratory species. The event will be featured on radio and TV and also announcent in local newspapers.

For the second time the Astronomy Club will take part in the World Migratory Bird Day. This time and education and awareness raising programme on migratory birds will be organised. The event will include audio visual programmes on bird life.

In conjunction with World Migratory Bird Day on 10th and 11th of May, MNS Miri has invited an uber bird photographer and birdwatching specialist Choo Tse Chien to Miri to lead bird watching trips, present a slideshow and talk as well as dispense tips and general advice on bird photography. We will also go birdwatching and go thru the basics of bird photography at Similajau National Park, Bintulu and Lambir Hills National Park, Miri.

The organisation FINCH will implement a WMBD event for the first time in Kosovo. We are planning to have a meeting in the centre of the city of Prizren, the second biggest city in Kosovo. Preparations are underway to organize the same meeting in the capital city of Kosovo, Prishtina.
The WMBD activity will include birdwatching sessions at the river of Drini where different kinds of migratory birds can be seen.
The event aims to make people aware for the protection of migratory birds.

Volunteers from our Green Initiative will create an informational bulletin board. Students will learn about native bird species and their migratory patterns. An invitation will be sent out in our monthly newsletter and posted on our website to travel to our community bird sanctuary and document the types and numbers of bird species each student can identify on the weekend of WMBD.
