Bird watching in Somaliland

I will carry out a two days bird watching activity along the coast of Berbera town. During the bird watching trip, friends are invited to participate and we will record all birds seen on the various habitats on the coastal line.

Wildflower Woods Bird Hike

The public is invited to join a bird hike through 125 acres of woods, meadows, farm fields, lakeshore and gardens. Following the walk, a bird banding demonstration will take place teaching the importance of scientific study in helping birds around the world.

Clallam County Migratory Bird Count

This is the 18th annual Clallam County Spring Bird Count, used to assess birds in this northwestern Washington county.
Clallam County holds the record for the most species seen in one WA county in one day, 193 species seen on this count in 1999. The count covers diverse habitats from saltwater to the Olympic Mountains.

World Migratory Bird Day 2011, in Incheon, South Korea

To mark World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD), the EAAFP Secretariat invited Incheon city officials with their children, totaling 80 people, to a Waterbird Watching & Education Program. The program was held on 5 May 2011 coinciding with a national holiday in Korea – Children’s Day. A half day program was designed to promote awareness of tidal flats in the region as an important habitat for migratory waterbirds and to stimulate public efforts to conserve them for the future.

Warbler Walk at Lake Park in Milwaukee

Warbler Walks at Lake Park, Saturdays, 8:30 to 10:00 AM - Spring 2011: April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21, May 28

Meet on the WEST side of the Warming House near the tennis courts on the north end of the park. These free, informal walks are open to the general public of all ages. Recreational birders familiar with Lake Park volunteer to lead people of all skill levels to the best birding spots in the park. Beginning birders are especially welcome.

Camaraderie and discussion of diverse environmental issues are encouraged.

SABAP2 - WMBD atlasing weekend

Registered atlasers will make a special effort to conduct bird atlas surveys in search of as many 'over-wintering' migrant waders (and any other migrants) as possible. They will, where possible, distribute fact sheets and posters to farmers and any other landowners that they may meet during their surveys.

How many storks do nest around Lake Burdur?

Lake Burdur is one of the Ramsar Sites in Turkey and is very important for migratory birds. It is also known as an important wintering site for the white-headed ducks.
As Burdur Birdwatching Society, this year, we are planning a trip to go around the lake to count the active stork nests and the number of the storks. During this activity we will also record other species and stop by the villages to come together with the local people and especially with kids to talk about the importance of the lake for migratory species.

World Migratory Birds Day 2011 Celebrations

  • Seminar on the topic of "Kot Addu - A Major Habitat for Migratory Birds" will be held in Jinah Hall Kot Addu in which promos and videos will also be exhibited.
  • Exhibition of Migratory Bird pictures for students.
  • Birdwatching event will be held at Taunsa Barrage Wildlife Sanctuary.

Bird watching at Sakumo Ramsar Site

The event will be organized by the Ghana Wildlife Division in collaboration with Friends of Ramsar Sites (a local NGO). Over 200 children and teachers from six basic schools from the catchment communities of the Sakumo Ramsar Site will meet for an educational programme on a range of topics - bird migration, wetlands, climate change, etc. This will be followed by a field visit to the site for bird watching. A press release on the event will be published on the 14th of May 2011.

Kurjenrahkan linnut

This event is meant for people, that are not members to our organisation, but are interested in birdwatching. During the event, we will visit two places, one in the local national park Kurjenrahka and the other one in a primeval forest with a large swamp. We will try to find as many different birds as possibel. In total, 20 participants will join our event.
