World Migratory Bird Day in Cotonou

Eco-Logo organised an event for the members of the the club CPN (Connaître et Protéger la Nature) IBIS, who are mainly young pupils and students concerned about environmental problems.
The day was marked by discussions about environmental problems and other topics related to biodiversity and the environment.
The afternoon was marked by a trip along the coastline in Cotonou where club members have seen some birds. These activities have been accompanied by very instructive games

2008 WMBD at Shidvar Island, Iran

As a result of the UNEP/GEF SCWP awareness program WMBD was celebrated for the first time at Shidvar Island in Hormozgan Province of Iran. A field visit and birdwatching program were organized for more than 41 local students. The students studied the birds and they were presented with some information about the habitats. Drawing and painting competitions were implemented and after the birdwatching event special prizes were provided to the drawings of the winners. This campaign was covered by the local media and reported in the news.

Birdwatching along the Central Kopetdag Mountain

Members of the student birdwatching club (Ashgabat) visited two IBAs "Kurtli" and "Mergen" in the Asghabat region. They counted all birds including migratory. Prof. Rustamov informed young people about AEWA activities and the World Migratory Bird Day. It is the second time of celebrating this day in Turkmenistan. There were participants from local communities and representatives of OSCE. All participants received a newsletter and posters of the IBA programs in Turkmenistan and stickers devoted to World Migratory Bird Day.

World Migratory Bird Day

Our organization implemented a birdwatching trip to Phulchowki hill,which is one of the Important Brd Areas in Nepal. Around 36 kinds of birds were observed on that day. It started from 7:00am till 1:00pm.

Slettnes Sea Bird Migration

During the WMBD birdwatchers from Norway and Sweden will gather together to count the seabird migration passing in front of the northernmost lighthouse on main land on Earth, Slettnes Lighthouse. Hundreds of thousands of seabirds are to be seen. People will be served something to drink, but need to support themselves with extra food. A Power Point presentation will be held inside the lighthouse the 11th of May, time 7pm. We warmly welcome everybody.

Birdwatching in Karachi, Pakistan

Birdwatcher's Club of Pakistan has invited all of its members to come up and experience birdwatching together at Sandspit Mangrove Forest where hundreds of Flamingos, Bar Tailed Godwits, Shanks, Stilts, Curlews, Whimblres, Reef Herons and many more birds can be sighted all the year round.

Observing a Sharp-tailed Grouse Lek

Many Sharp-tailed grouse have made their home on a grassland. Members of the YFBTA and the general public will go out at sunrise to observe the lek.

Migratory Bird Day Hike

Give a welcome to spring migrants by joining staff on a birding excursion to Berry Tract, at the foot of the Niagara Escarpment. This property is home to many nesting species that are not common. Wear suitable footwear, and register in advance. Meet at the Nature Interpretive Centre. Fee: RBG members $7; non-members $10.

International Migratory Bird Day

The event from 11:00-15:00 includes guided tours with activities for families along a trail passing through a series of Bell Caves* with the highlight of releasing rehabilitated migratory birds (Black Kites, White storks, Eurasian Bee-eater, Steppe Buzzard) emphasizing on the factors that endangered these individuals:
persecution, power lines, etc.
