Migration Celebration at Four Rivers

During May, songbirds migrating from South America pass through our area on their way to breeding grounds in the forests of Canada. These tiny travelers use forest preserves as stopover spots to rest and refuel. Join us to learn the secrets of these birds’ extraordinary journeys during guided hikes, family activities and presentations.

Accessible Birding

Accessible birding events aim to make birdwatching available to all. This outing is tailored for those with limited mobility and will last about 90 minutes. We will stay on firm or hard surfaces — fine for those using canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Our pace will be “slow and easy” and we’ll take advantage of Cantigny’s new pathways and benches as we explore areas close to the Visitors Center. Beginning birders are welcome, and binoculars will be available for borrowing (first come, first serve). Wheelchairs are also available for sign-out at the Visitors Center information kiosk.

ABQ BioPark World Migratory Bird Day

Come to the ABQ BioPark's Botanic Garden and celebrate migratory birds with us! We will have games, crafts, education, bird walks, and lots of fun. You might even see one of the WMBD focus species for this year:  black-crowned night herons, western tanagers, and Wilson's warblers are all summer residents at the Botanic Garden.

Migration Celebration at Springbrook Nature Center

Join us on May 14th, 2022, from 10am-1pm, in celebrating the return of our migrating bird friends at our free, family friendly, outdoor event! Learn about different bird species returning to Minnesota this season, and try spotting a few yourself! Go on a birding hike, become artsy with bird crafts, and observe live raptors up close!

Wings of Spring Festival

The St. Croix Valley Bird Club will host a World Migratory Bird Day Festival at City Hall in River Falls on May 7, 2022. There will be a bird hike on the White Pathway at 8 am. From 8 am to noon, Carpenter Nature Center will be banding birds, and children's activities are from 10 am to 12 pm. Kids can paint wooden bird cutouts and have their "wingspan" measured and be banded.
