Birdwatching

This activity is linked with the Seabird and Marine Mammal Monitoring Network (RAM, in Portuguese). It's a seabird observation network initiated in the Cantabrian and Galician coasts and now extended to the whole Iberian Peninsula, including the continental Portuguese coast and the Madeira and Azores archipelagos.

One of RAM's main initiatives are the seabird observation days. During these days observers are placed along different spots of the coast, preferably at the same time, to record all birds, including items such as species, number, flight direction, age group, etc.

People invited from different environmental institutions will attend the educational and bird watching trip which will be taking place at Lake Abijata on 10and 11 May 2014 and education about the challenges facing migratory birds and their significance in promoting sustainable tourism will be addressed and thye bird watching activities will be conducted.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden is a birding hotspot with more than 220 bird species records as well as a well-known attraction in China. Each year, we have birding festival since 2010 as well as a varies of bird education activities for the local communities. We are happy to join WMBD to celebrate birds and improve awareness of bird conservation and education.

The Macedonian Ecological Society will be working with high school students from all across Macedonia. We will take a tour around Dojran, specifically the Dojran Lake. The students will be able to bird-watch and study the birds found there,as well as hear about the importance of the migrant species. We will then go to our resting place, the square. A debate will be held, in which the students will have to point out the good and bad aspects of tourism and express their thoughts on the matter. A game will follow, in which the students will have to show their knowledge and creativity.

16th Turkey Bird Watchers Conference will convene on 9-10-11 May 2014 with the participation of birders, nature conservation activists and all those interested in birdwatching, flyways and nature conservation in Istanbul and across Turkey. The conference, which coincides with World Migratory Birds Day on 10 May 2014, involves a series of technical presentations along with bird watching activities as well as social activities such as a concert and games for children. Participation of representatives of BirdLife partners are also expected.

We will be doing a comprehensive survey of the birds of the reserve and perhaps record a few migratory stragglers.It is a club outing and members will be able to go on various walks and drives with experts and improve their birding skills. We normally also include a bird ringing demonstration where people can get to see some birds in hand. Unfortunately we can only camp the week after the official WMBD weekend as the camp is booked on that week.

The Young Biologists Association will celebrate World Migratory Bird Day in Armenia. The venue of the event is town of Tsaghkadzor (in Armenian it means "gorge of flowers"), Kotayk province. The WMBD event will be organized during the youth exchange “Uniting Youth for Biodiversity”. More than 40 participants from Armenia, Spain, Italy, Poland, Croatia, Georgia, Turkey and Ukraine will participate. The educational seminar and birdwatching will be organized.

Before noon we will go birding to UB pond near Ulaanbaatar city, and after that we'll have some presentations to the participants and talks.

More than 50 people will join us including students, professors, workers and bird watchers.
