Birdwatching on Alftanes

Alftanes is a peninsula in the vicinity of our capital city Reykjavik. Brent Geese is a regular guest there. The Brent Geese that breed in Canadian Arctic are of the light-bellied subspecies - Branta Bernicla hrota.
They winter in Ireland and are passage migrants in Iceland in spring and autumn. High Arctic bird, circumpolar in distribution. Other subspecies have darker belly.
