As we prepare to celebrate the World Migratory Bird Day on October 12, I am honored to lend my voice to this vital occasion. This year’s theme, “Protect insects, protect birds,” highlights a crucial aspect of our ecosystems—one that connects the beauty and vitality of migratory birds with the health of the environments they traverse.

Migratory birds are remarkable travelers, embarking on epic journeys across continents. Their survival depends not only on the availability of suitable resting spots but also on the well-being of the ecosystems that support them. Insects, often overlooked in their significance, play a critical role in these ecosystems, serving as essential food sources for birds. Our understanding of the intricate relationships within nature reveals that the conservation of one species invariably impacts others.

The urgency of this message cannot be overstated. With habitat loss, climate change, and pollution placing substantial pressures on both bird and insect populations, it is vital that we rally together to advocate for effective conservation strategies.
