On the occasion of World Migratory Day, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is raising national awareness on the importance of migratory birds for the ecosystem.
To mark this occasion, and to encourage actions leading towards the conservation of migratory birds and to shed light on the threats they face and their importance on the ecosystem, UNDP Lebanon, with funds from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, is organizing an inclusive hike and bird-watching event during which people with disabilities (mental and/or physical) will be initiated to bird watching in their natural habitat within Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve, a hotspot for migratory birds.
During the hike, raptors, confiscated from black market and healed ones injured from illegal hunting, will be set free.
