Migration Weeks - Strait Observatory

The Strait of Messina is a critical migratory bottleneck in the centre of the Mediterranean Flyway. At the Strait Observatory in Calabria we will monitor migration, as we have done every spring and autumn since 2014. Volunteers are welcome to join our raptor count alongside experienced birdwatchers and ornithologists. During the two weeks, teenagers from local schools will be involved in educational activities on birds and migration. A closing conference will be held on Saturday 9th, with national experts talking about movement ecology, bird tracking, and conservation.
