Mr. Min-jong Jeon
Deputy Chief Executive, Partnership for the East Asian - Australasian Flyway (EAAFP)
The East Asian-Australasian Flyway is one of nine flyways in the world, used by more than 50 million migratory waterbirds. These waterbirds carry out incredible journeys between the north and the south, twice a year. Plastic is one of the most widely used materials in the world and has been used for decades. However, only recently we have become aware of the impact of plastic pollution on nature. Still, the impact on the migratory birds is understudied and our winged friends may suffer far much beyond our present understanding. As we use plastic in everyday lives, everybody has the responsibility to solve the plastic pollution problem. So, let’s take actions together, starting from today.
