The first session of this event is birdwatching, and the students will be grouped into 6 groups. Each group will be guided by one birdwatcher from BICONS (Bird Conservation Society). BICONS is a local birdwatching club in Bandung, Indonesia. In this session students will walk along the park to observe the beauty of birds. During the second session, the students will have a lecture on the importance of sustaining the environment to conserve birds. One important point is to reduce plastic waste through “KANG PISMAN” (Kurangi, Pisahkan, Manfaatkan), in English this is called Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. KANG PISMAN is a government program to reduce waste in Bandung. After this we will explain the importance of bird migration, the migratory period, the mechanism, their aims, and what they need during the time of migration. We will also explain to the students how Indonesia is an important destination for migratory birds. After finishing all the sessions, the student will receive a certificate and an Eco green bag with a tumbler inside to motivate them to reduce the use of plastic bags and plastic bottles.
This event will be organized by Biology Education Department Lecturer UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. We hope this program can instill the culture of love for the environment to conserve birds through reducing the use of plastic.
