World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is a celebration that held every year since 2006 in concern to create public awareness on nature conservation, especially migratory birds.
Following the purpose of this event, our UKM HIMPUS (Student Association of Poultry Lovers), Veterinery Faculty Of Syiah Kuala University whose member concists of veterinary student, attempt to carry out our first organizing event to spread the word about WMBD. In 2015, UKM HIMPUS had become participant in this celebration which organized by Aceh Birder and so in 2016 we would like to continue this celebration as an organizer.
The series of activities that we propose starting in May 5th and then May 8th, 2016 as the peak of the celebration, namely:
1. Seminar of World Migratory Bird Day in theme of "Illegal Killing, Taking and Trade Of Migratory Birds" on May 5th, 2016 at Veterinary Faculty Of Syiah Kuala University
2. Training, Observation and Birdwatching of Bird Migration on May 8th, 2016 at Ujong Pancu Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar, Aceh Province, Indonesia.
Target for participants are student of Syiah Kuala University, Student of Universities in Aceh, student of Schools and High schools in Aceh and Public, as expected to be total of 200 people.
We hope this activity will increase the awareness of Aceh's citizen about wild birds, and so continues to trigger more activity for nature preservation especially to preserve the birds life.
