This year’s World Migratory Bird Day theme is all about insects! Creepy crawlies play a vital role in the successful migration of our feathered friends. Join us at the Edmonton Valley Zoo to explore all the different ways that insects influence our ecosystems - including the ways humans can alter insect activities, and in turn birds!
This year’s Migratory Bird Day will also be host to the first round of voting on Edmonton’s City Bird! A City Bird is more than just another mascot for a city, it highlights the importance of birds as keystone species of local ecosystems.
Celebrate with our Bird Friendly partners who will be hosting a “Bug & Bird Friendly Fair” from noon - 2:30pm:
John Janzen Nature Centre
Nature Alberta
WILD North
Edmonton River Valley Conservation Coalition
Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop
Edmonton Native Plant Society
And many more!
Join us at 3 pm for a free presentation on birds and bugs with biologist, author, and photographer Myrna Pearman in the Edventure Lodge.
