Whether you’ve never picked up a pair of binoculars before or you are an experienced birder, you’re sure to find some interesting feathered friends in Calvert County! According to the Maryland Ornithological Society, Calvert County has had over 330 reported bird species. Most of the county is rural and habitats include tidal wetlands, freshwater marshes, beaches, forests, meadows, bay and river shorelines and even a cypress swamp. Calvert County is home to both common and notable bird species.
Join us on May 8 (World Migratory Bird Day) at JPPM to kick off the Calvert County Bird Trail with:
- Live owl demonstration
- Guided birding trail tours
- Exhibit hall with activity give-aways, demonstrations, and a taxidermy bird display
- Photo Booth
- Bird Olympics (for all ages!)
- The Great Bird Migration Game (kid-friendly)
Event is free and no advance ticket purchase is required.
Face coverings must be worn at all times by anyone over the age of 5.
Bring your own picnic!
