The Department of Environment gave a presentation to the Grade 5 students of the Look Out Primary School about migratory shorebirds. Students were taught about different shorebird habitats, ways to identify shorebirds and the threats that shorebirds face. The students were given a short quiz after the presentation and prizes were given to students who answered the questions correctly. The following day, these students were taken on a field trip to Marguerita Bay and Carr's Bay where they saw migratory shorebirds and other wetland and seabirds. Students were able to use binoculars and bird cards to identify the birds that they saw. Each student was given a World Migratory Bird Day sticker for their participation and the class was given a shorebirds poster, WMBD poster and a bird migration poster.
