We at California Institute of Environmental Design & Management (CIEDM) support the thought of "Migratory birds connect us to the nature", especially during this health crisis of COVID-19 when we are shelter-in-place and are able to see and learn that skies are blue, sights are clear due to improved air quality, and wildlife including birds are more visible in national parks and urban gardens. As in past years, we participate in WMBD 2020 with following actions:
- Staring today, the WMBD 2020 on Saturday May 9 through this weekend, we've engaged yard works at Arcadia EcoHome, to maintain & enhance its bird friendly features. The EcoHome is a residential property in Arcadia, California, the foothill community of Angeles National Forest in San Gabriel Mountain, in southern California. In addition to a green building, the property is improved with a yard that has been awarded as a Certified Wildlife Habitat, a Pollinator Friendly Garden and an Ocean Friendly Garden,
- We take the opportunity of working at yard to enjoy bird watching..
- Today, I shared my comments to the Wetlands International's LinkedIn post about waterbirds on the subject of WMBD 2020, as a way to spread the WMBD message in my network. Th post and comment can be seen at: https://lnkd.in/dwbhtBY.
- Spread the WMBD campaign messages & our yardwork accompliehsmsnets on LinkedIn & Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ciedmeco to further promote public awareness of the campaign.
- Will use the info about our yard works through this special weekend in my future lectures to be delivered locally in California State University campuses such as CSUDH, CSULB, & CPP, as well as in the my course titled "Ecological Buildings, Landscapes, & Cities" to be taught again at Hubei University of Technology, Wuahn, China, where I serve as a Distinguished Professor.
