A national community hawkwatching event supporting sites and HMANA and celebrating World Migratory BIrd Day!
Do you want to watch hawks but keep a safe social distance? Do you want to support a continental network of hawkwatchers in the process?
Join us here on May 9 for an all-day Backyard Raptorthon in your own safe space—your back yard!
All you need to do:
1. Attend the event on our Facebook page
2. Make a suggested donation of $25 or more by clicking on the “donate” button here or on our main Facebook page
3. Note the site you'd like your funds to support in the comment section--you can also choose to have your funds go 100% to HMANA by typing in our acronym
3. Spend as little or as much time as you'd like between 9am-8pm looking for raptor and other bird species, taking notes, pictures, and videos
4. Post your findings in the comment section--pictures and videos encouraged!
At the end of the day 50% of funds raised from supporters will go back to participating sites! The other portion goes directly to fund our Hawk Watch Fund grant program, increasing the annual dollars available to hawkwatch sites.
And... the more you watch the more you'll see! There will be a prize for the backyard site that documents the most number of species! We’ll send out HMANA caps to all counters!
Remember, together we count!
Thank you for your participation and happy hawkwatching!
