Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge near Zimmerman will celebrate spring and World Migratory Bird Day with its annual free Spring Celebration event on Saturday, May 18.
There will be a two-hour bird tour beginning at the Blue Hill Trailhead at 8 a.m.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be activities at the Oak Savanna Learning Center, including crafts for kids, a plant sale and booths. The Eagle’s Nest Nature Store will also be open and lunch will be available for purchase from a food truck.
At 11 a.m., Tami Vogel from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will talk about “Keeping Wild Families Together.”
At noon, a family-friendly guided hike will start from the Oak Savanna Learning Center.
There will also be a volunteer interpretive rover presence on the Prairie’s Edge Wildlife Drive, a 7-mile auto tour, from 8 a.m. to dusk.
