Working Group inside the LIFE project "Conservation of the Red-breasted Goose along the Global Flyway"
The AEWA National Focal Point - Dr. Nela MIAUTA organized an Working Group involving the experts from the Ministry of Environment, the Romanian Ornithological Society/BirdLife Romania, the General Association of Hunters and Anglers, the Local Environmental Protection Agencies Bucharest and Ilfov, “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History - one of the oldest research institutions in the field of biodiversity and public education and awareness, for discussing the habitat requirements of migratory birds (Branta ruficollis), the flyway, distribution, population size, the conservation status, pressures (disturbance, loss of habitats, changes to the agricultural regime, using the pesticides, wind farms, climate changes, infrastructure development) and threats. The event was also a good opportunity to celebrate the World Migratory Bird Day.
