The Bethlehem Conservation Commission invites you to join White Memorial’s Education Director, Carrie Szwed, on World Migratory Bird Day as we wind through beautiful Swendsen Farms in Bethlehem on a ½-mile walk. Carrie has been a birding enthusiast since her graduate school days, and loves taking people of all ages out to “spy on” our magnificent native birds. We hope to catch rare bobolinks establishing breeding territory in the fields. Then, we’ll head through the thicket and into the forest, spotting sparrows, warblers, and other songbirds along the way. Carrie will help participants identify these birds by sight and sound. Bring binoculars if you have them; otherwise, we can provide them. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet or muddy, and be prepared for direct sunlight and insects. The program is free and open to all.
