Kids to Parks day is a nation-wide day of outdoor exploration and play, organized by the National Parks Trust. This year, we are celebrating the Year of the Bird and World Migratory Bird Day! More than 190 species of resident and migratory birds utilize the essential habitat protected by Shenandoah National Park.

Byrd Visitor Center
Birds of Prey Program | 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Meet a live raptor and learn about why these birds are important. Meet at Big Meadows Amphitheater, near the picnic grounds. (A) (AL)
Activities on the Terrace | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Stop by the Byrd Visitor Center to learn more about Shenandoah's birds with our family-friendly activities, games and touch tables on the terrace. (A)
The Wild Side of Shenandoah | 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Learn about some of Shenandoah's birds at this short talk on the visitor center terrace. (A) (AL)
Special Musical Performance by Gigi Love | 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Gigi is a volunteer troubadour for the parks, and will be performing acoustic versions of her national park songs in this special performance. (A)
Junior Ranger Program | 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Discover the special habitat that Shenandoah protects for its resident and migratory birds during this hands-on program for ages 7-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Less than 1-mile walk. (AL)
Birds at Byrd | 7:30 - 8:15 p.m.
Join us as we kick off our season of illustrated evening programs with a talk about Shenandoah's amazing birds. (A) (AL)
