Antipoaching Camp Ischia Island

Every year Game Wardens of WWF Italy organize antipoaching Camp in Ischia Island (south Italy).

This Island is an key hotspot on the migration route, that lead birds from Africa to reproduction areas.

Althought the italian law forbids spring hunting since 1977, thousand of hunters kill with traps and guns migratory birds. In particular turtle doves and quails attracted with electronic decoys  are killed with guns. Furthermore, small migratory birds are killed with illegal traps. This year the antipoaching Camp started on april 22th and will end on may 15th. The activities have allowed the seizure of 4 guns, 4000 cartridges, 56 traps, 6 electronic decoys. In this day, may 10th the gamewardens are still involved in antipoaching activities and the topic of this "world migratory Bird day 2016" was publicized on the local and national press.
