Once again bringing you the good news of our avian conservation initiative now in its sixth year, creating yet another wonderful opportunity for you all to contribute by your participation in this, a truly international bird conservation activity in Uttarakhand Himalayas. Please go through the details and respond ASAP. The Participation is purely on first come first serve basis, so please hurry to avoid disappointment later.

Meet at the specified location and join Pat Miller (8 am) or Robin Taylor (10 am) to learn more about birds. All levels and ages of birders are invited to attend and our guides will help you use binoculars and bird guides to locate the birds. We ask that all children be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The bird walks are open and free for all, but please come early to reserve a spot in case they fill up.

Delve into the clever minds of crows, a decade of research of the northwestern crow, and the city habits of large flocks that now reside in Vancouver with ornithologist Dr. Rob Butler.

Although historically very abundant along the coasts of North America, the Surf Scoter was until recently a species we knew surprisingly little about. This talk will focus on recent findings, including satellite tracking of their movements, as well as their dependence on other marine species including eelgrass, herring, and gray whales. Like many marine animals and plants, numbers of Surf Scoters have declined dramatically and increased conservation is urgently needed.

Vancouver is a bird city and a great place to take that first step to birdwatching. Learn more about the common birds around town and in your garden. The talk will be a great introduction to birding and to our feathered friends, and an opportunity to hone your birding skills.

George Clulow has been involved with the naturalist and birding community in the Lower Mainland since the mid-1970s and is currently a Director for Bird Studies Canada.

Art festival for children (4 to 13 years) on the 4th of May. Cycle of lectures (Seminar) on networking for migratory birds on 11th May and free visit to the Ecuasal saltlakes in Salinas, Mar Bravo on the morning of the 12th.
