Join us for the 2012 Baillie Birdathon, the oldest sponsored bird count in North America, raising money for bird research and conservation. The challenge is to identify as many bird species as possible within a 24-hour period, during the month of May. The money raised benefits Bird Studies Canada, the James L. Baillie Memorial Fund, and participating migration monitoring stations and conservation organizations (designated by participants to receive a portion of funds raised).

The Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission in collaboration with the Friends of Ramsar Sites Ghana is organising activities to celebrate 2012 WMBD at Songor Ramsar Site, Ada. The activities include official launch of the WMBD; educational talk on the phenomenon of bird migration highlighting on the its importance for tourism at Songor; birdwatching, exhibition and boat cruising on the Volta River Eastuary. The event is expected to last for 2 days and targeted on school children, the Ada community members, tourists, the Ghanaian media and the general public.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French League for the Protection of Birds, the LPO Aquitaine is organizing a day of awareness and observation of migration on the migration study site migration of La Pointe de Grave.

ANTECEDENTES
En isla de Pascua y el Parque Nacional Rapa Nui el temas de las aves migratorias es fundamental en lo que respecta a los recursos naturales, pero también con relación al contexto histórico y cultural de sus recursos culturales, ya que las aves en general, y en especial ciertas especies de aves migratorias jugaron un papel muy importante en la historia, la religión y la cultura de la sociedad antigua.
Join an expert guide 2-4pm on a bird-watching walk along the Tabbil-ban Dhagun Boardwalk at Nudgee Beach Reserve and discover the fascinating lives of our wetland birds including resident and migratory shorebirds to celebrate Migratory Bird Day 2012.
Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
