Since 2008 until now, consistent with other fons all over the world, Department of Environment of Hormozgan Province has celebrated Migratory Bird Day by implementing programs such as training workshops, birdwatching for students, drawing and painting competition for kids, publishing brochures and posters and media reports. Accoring to the WMBD 2014 Theme, On May 14, Doe of hormozgan province cooprated with Mashq-e-Afarinesh NGO-Training Company held a training workshop in DOE of Hormozgan Provincial Office for ecotour guides. The main topics included introducing world migratory bird day, conversation of important areas for migratory birds, the importance of wildlife specially birds in ecotourism business, birdwatching as a opporuunity of a green job and introducing ecotourism potentials of Hormozgan Province mainly in birdwatching. Hormozgan Province is located in south of iran, beside the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. As a result of variety of habitats, more than 2000 km Shoreline, mangrove forests and large mud flats, this province is a suitable host for migratory birds as 305 species of birds, chifly migratoy birds, are recorded there that is about 60% of all recorded bird species in Iran. The program were continued in bandarabbass coast, and participants watched the shore birds by telescopes and binoculars. Identification of Some species such Flamingo, Caspian Tern, Reef Heron, Dunlin, Great Sand Plover, Kentish Plover, Terek Sandpiper, Turnstone were taught to the ecotour guides by wildlife experts of DOE of Hormozgan Province. Besides, in consonance with the WMBD 2014 Theme, a brochure published and several reports sent to the national and local media.
