Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan, covering an area of 347,200 square kilometres. The province commands major overland access routes from Europe to South Asia and is a vital link in future transportation corridors from the Central Asian Republics to the Arabian Sea. Balochistan shares river basins and ground water resources with Iran and Afghanistan. It is located on the migration routes of economically and biologically important wildlife populations. It has a major stake in and responsibility for coastal and marine resources of the Arabian Sea.
Balochistan inherits a wide range of flora and fauna, from coastal zone marine animals to the deserts reptiles and amphibians and the high land mammals. Since last one decade the rains in the region are less and therefore a situation of drought has destroyed the natural habitat, moreover the lack of awareness about the wildlife conservation and natural habitat protection had seriously threaten many species to extinction in Balochistan. Some mammals are already extinct in Balochistan such has the Black Bear of Balochistan.
The situation is severely critical in Balochistan and therefore a lot of efforts and funding is required to protect the biodiversity and educate the people of Balochistan for the conservation of Natural habitat and wildlife.
People don't have information about the importance of migratory birds. Main objective of celebrating World Migratory Bird Day is to raise awareness amongst the people about migratory birds, their habitats & threats to migratory birds.
