Statement by Mr. Erik Solheim on World Migratory Bird Day 2017

The arrival of birds in springtime is one of the great natural events every year. We depend on migratory birds not only to herald the coming of warmer weather, but to pollinate crops and perform other vital ecosystem functions that help us thrive. But they are threatened - by poaching, unsustainable hunting, habitat loss, poisoning and climate change. And when they are threatened, humans are threatened, too. So let's work together to conserve these incredible species. Their fate is our fate.
