World Migratory Bird Day 2007 |
In 2007 World Migratory Bird Day was celebrated in more than 58 countries and at more than 100 different events all across the planet on the weekend of 12-13 May. The 2007 theme “Migratory birds in a changing climate” helped focus the world's attention on the plight of migratory birds in the face of global warming. WMBD activities around the globe highlighted the effects increasing temperatures, altered rainfall and vacillating weather conditions are having on migratory birds.
Also in 2007, a drawing competition was conducted. 156 children participated from around the world and sent their masterpieces to the AEWA Secretariat. Their paintings expressed their ideas, hopes and fears about migratory birds in a changing climate.
